My Chicken's Water Belly: A Rollercoaster of Fear and Fluid!

I have a 5 yr old hen who I diagnosed with ascites in June this year and I understand whatever is causing it will ultimately get her in the end but I plan to keep managing it until then.
My question is as I’ve never dealt with this before, is it possible their abdomen will decide to suddenly fill up instead of gradually? I first drained 120ml from her letting the rest drip out in June 5th then it slowly filled up to where I drained her again 100-120ml letting the rest drip out July 29 but I’ve been checking her everyday and there’s no sign of swelling. It feels normal. No swelling no pooping on herself and she’s eating/drinking/playing normally. Crop, poop, and vent are also normal.
We’re getting close to the 2 month mark again and I’m wondering if anyone has ever dealt with irregular timing of the abdomen filling back up? I.e, sometimes monthly, sometimes it takes a few months, sometimes it fills up in a week, etc.
Only changes I’ve made since discovering it is reducing treats like seeds and mealworms. They still have access to fresh, pesticide free veggies from the garden sometimes.

Unfortunately I travel for work for months at a time so I’m unable to watch her closely but I’ve taught my retired nurse mom to manage it when the time comes. I leave for my job tomorrow.
