Navigating a Marine Corps Ball: Style and Grace on the Road

I am traveling for work for the next couple months and will be attending a marine core ball while I am traveling. A colleague asked me if I wanted to go to a ball while I was visiting and I said sure. I’ve been pretty busy, so I didn’t really realize that it was a marine core ball with a very specific dress code until I got an email with the confirmation today. Since I am traveling I only brought one dress with me and I would say it’s probably more semi formal and it is brightly colored. I looked up some of the guidelines and it seems it like might be okay but wanted an opinion from others that have actually been. If you couldn’t tell from the picture it hits just above my ankles.

Does this dress work for a marine ball?

If it is inappropriate then I will try to go find something else since I still have some time. I don’t know how I would online shop here so I would probably have to find something in person.
