The Echo Chamber of "Fluent": Why You're Still Not Listening
 | My biggest mistake: ''Instead of listening to understand, very ofen I listen to reply.'' If my level is low, I'm trying to produce a grammatical sentence in my head (not listening). If my level now is quite high, I'm trying to impress the other person (not really listening). I think it goes beyond language learning, as I don't make ths mistake just in my (TL). That said, I could've benefitted a lot more from my input and had a lot more meaningful conversations with other people. Meaningful conversations, are what many language learners strive for and are also what contributes to more language acquisition. Now I wrote this down and it reminds me that I should value more the input the other person is offering to me and to be a good listener. [link] [comments] |
